Taking action now will help protect against increased flood risk in the future.

Taking action against the future impact of climate change is vital for business, as it is for the wider community. The effects of climate change are already being felt, and over the coming years these are predicted to bring greater extremes of weather, resulting in more powerful storms as well as longer periods of dry weather.

A proactive way for businesses to take positive steps in managing their future risk is to support initiatives such as the Aire Resilience Company (ARC). By engaging with ARC you can enable this programme to become established generating the opportunity to increase resilience and reduce risk, not only for individual homes, offices and warehouses, but to business continuity, supply chains and city-wide infrastructure.

Leeds’ businesses will play a crucial role in enabling ARC to deliver essential NFM measures upstream of Leeds. This work will intercept and slow the rate of rainwater entering the river system during severe storms, holding the water within the catchment for longer and preventing the flood defences around Leeds from becoming overwhelmed.

Please see below for further information on the Aire Resilience Company.

NOTE: At the bottom of the page is the Expression of Interest Form for businesses to register your interest in becoming a part of ARC.
